Flowers of the Month: What's Beautiful in Biarritz in April
April on the Basque Coast is when everything speeds up. The fields get their color, the markets smell green, and at Plein Air Biarritz, the shop changes its look almost every week.
Current Stars
Ranunculus — dense, sculptural, in shades of coral, raspberry, and fresh butter. They open slowly and last almost ten days.
Parrot tulips — those that curl, undulate, and spread like wings. Less demure than their classic cousins.
Sweet peas — the first ones are arriving. Potent fragrance, delicate stem. Handle with care.
Lilac — fleeting, generous, very fragrant. A three-week season, no more.
Anemones — nearing their end, but still magnificent in deep blues and graphic whites.
What's Coming
Peonies will start to appear at the end of the month. Lily of the valley for May 1st, of course. And the first garden roses, if spring remains mild.
Stop by the shop: deliveries change every two days, and what we show you here will already be different tomorrow.
